Owner & General Manager
Rich Messina grew up in the Boston area and is an avid Boston/New England sports fan. He loves all sports and played many years of organized baseball. Rich was on the soccer and downhill ski teams in high school. He has degrees from the University of New Mexico and the University of Central Missouri. Rich retired from the U.S. Air Force with over 22 years of dedicated service to his country - most of them as a pilot. He and his wife, Cyndi, have 2 sons and a daughter. Having lived in Europe and Asia (and having travelled all over the world), Rich has had the opportunity to learn and play many different sports. His favorites are hockey, volleyball, mountain biking and skiing/snowboarding. Rich has started playing hockey again and plays drop-in a couple times a week.
Rich was surprised when he moved to the Omaha area and there wasn't a Play It Again Sports store. Having patronized these stores for his own gear and as a parent of active boys, Rich knew the need was there for a discount sports store. He was thrilled when space became available in Canfield Plaza...the perfect location for Play It Again Sports in Omaha. Rich is dedicated to making sure customers have the best choices for reasonable prices in both new and used sporting goods and fitness equipment.
Fun fact - Rich and his youngest son, Tim, played in the Norwegian national lacrosse championship tournament in Oslo in 2008!
Marcus is a native of Jackson Minnesota. He grew up playing hockey, football, baseball, and running track. After starting at Dana College in Nebraska, Marcus ended up graduating from Southwest Minnesota State University with a degree in Sports Management and a minor in coaching. Marcus and his wife recently had their first child in September. An avid hockey player, you may find Marcus on the ice around Omaha playing pick-up games and skating stick and puck. We are extremely happy to have him as our manager at Play It Again Sports!
Fun Fact - Marcus held the single game rushing record for his high school in Minnesota (an impressive 284 yards) for almost ten years. It was just broken last year.

Cyndi left her job at Bellevue Public Schools to work with her husband at Play It Again Sports Omaha and loves being surrounded by sports and fitness every day.
